The fantastic new DVD of “The Nightmare
Before Christmas” is the third, and best, release of the classic Disney movie (it's amusing to think it had to be released under the Touchstone name in 1993, but now the mouse house is proud to put its name behind something "dark and spooky").
The main draw for fans is a new audio commentary that features input from Tim Burton and Danny Elfman. You also get a tour of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland decked out for Halloween with Nightmare-inspired stuff. Another new feature is Burton's original poem narrated by the great Christopher Lee.
The features from the previous DVD that are carried over include the shorts Vincent and Frankenweenie (the latter has a new intro from Burton explaining his reasoning behind a feature-length remake), the behind the scenes doc, concept art, deleted scenes and trailers. Top it off with gorgeous picture and sound and this DVD is a must own.
The standard DVD comes in an attractive case with a three-dimensonal image of Jack on the cover, or for the really obsessed there's the ultimate collector's edition with a bust of Jack!
