The videogame Kingdom Hearts features
a level based on Halloweentown and its inhabitants, familiar from
the movie Nightmare Before Christmas. Below is a description of
the game written by our forum member pumpkinqueen15.
Kingdom Hearts is the
story of a 14 year old boy, named Sora. He lives a peaceful life
on the Destiney Islands with his two best friends, Riku and Kairi.
An evil darkness and creatures called the Heartless come one night
and destroy Sora's Island, they also take his friends! It is up
to Sora now to save the day.
Equipped with a Keyblade and two new friends, Donald Duck and
Goofy, they travel to unfamiliar worlds to find their lost friends
and destroy the Heartless. But these worlds may not be that unfamiliar
to you.
One world the threesome
visit, is none other than Halloween Town, from Tim Burtons "Nightmare
Before Christmas"! Before entering Halloween Town, Donald
inquires that this place seems a little eerie, and that they'll
need macabre costumes to fit in. So dressed as town citizens,
they go in the Halloween world. Soon they meet wth the town Mayor,
who introduces them to Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King.
Jack is curious about the Heartless and wants to make them part
of his annual Halloween Festival. He and Dr. Frankelstein have
been concocting a bizarre experiment to control the Heartless
by actually giving them an artificial heart. Jack then asks Sora
if he would help him find an ingridient for the experiment. After
finding it, they discover that Lock, Shock, and Barrel have stolen
the Heartless' heart. Giving it to their master, Oogie Boogie,
who beleives he can control the Heartless now. Sora and Jack know
that Oogie must be stopped and bolt to his manor.
At the manor, they talk
to those mischievous trick-or-treaters to get some clues to where
Oogie is. Once you locate him, you'll have to find a way to avoid
a lot of damage inflicted by Oogies giant roulette machine! This
battle is very tricky.
When you've defeated this trouble maker and leave the manor, you
suddenly realize it has been posessed by darkness and starts coming
after you! This can also get a little tricky after awhile.
Halloween is Saved! Jack
realizes his errors of trying to tame the Heartless(they're not
so easily controlled) and postpones the festivities until the
damage's done by Oogie are repaired.
Your adventure in Halloween Town may be over, but during the remainder
of the game you can vist Jack and walk around anytime you want,
in the place that perhaps you've seen in your dreams.
