Well its the moment, you've waited for, however you may be disappointed:

Quote:
Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Beetlejuice (20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) on 16th September 2008 priced at $19.96 SRP. The colourful, wildly imaginative family adventure from Tim Burton starring Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis and Winona Ryder returns to DVD, newly remastered and packaged in a lenticular o-sleeve. Extras are somewhat limited however with only three Beetlejuice cartoons from the TV series which was produced by Burton and David Geffen.

Beetlejuice Cartoon Episodes:

- A-Ha
- Skeletons In The Closet
- Spooky Boo-tique

Source: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=67836

The film will also be issued on Blu-Ray which will include a soundtrack sampler CD: http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=67837

---

Bit disappointing overall considering the wealth of extras that could go on such as the Day-O music video and any other promotional material from the time. The cartoon has always been a possibility and i guess it isn't bad we're getting an hours worth. Or half an hour if these were the double bill episodes...

Wow, that was underwhelming.

This is one of my favourite Burton films, and while I'm happy it's getting a 20th century nod, that's a lackluster list of features.

The Beetlejuice cartoon wasn't even that great.

Understatement.

This is a shocking disrespect to a great film. I didn't enjoy the cartoon all that much.

To be honest me either, despite watching it as a kid. Its certainly no where near as good as Family Dog. I guess its some consolation that the cartoon is getting some recognition like this at least unlike the spin offs to Dumb and Dumber or The Mask or something.

absolute garbage.

1. 3 cartoons and a remaster dones't not get a 'Deluxe Edition' tag in my book.
2. The cartoons should be sold separately anyway.. even if they don't release everyday Ep they should at least put of a kind of 'best of' collection OR the complete collection.

this is absolute garbage.
understand the day o video would be mission due to ownership and legal issues.
but no behind the scenes footage? No cast and crew interviews ?(old or new)
no deleted scences..and there were many.

this is just crap.
false adversing.. don't mind a few cartoons added like they did with the ghostbusters but they should as well as not instead of..

i think theres more extras.. i just can't believe it will only have 3 cartoons and rated a 20th Anniversary Deluxe DVD.. they wouldn't get away with it..

The best of it is.. Burton dones't like dvd so no chance in getting his support.

What? 3 cartoon episodes but no behind the scenes footage? No interview?

I'm terribly disappointed. At least it's remastered.

Blu-Ray update:
http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=67837

The disc will now be coming out on the 7th of October, possibly to coincide with the Sweeney release. The Blu-Ray set will now also come with a collectible booklet “The Beginner’s Guide to Seeing Ghosts”. And also the CD now has a track listing (albeit short):

1. Main Titles (Elfman Geffen)
2. The Family”/Sand Worm Planet (Elfman Geffen)
3. The Aftermath (Elfman Geffen)
4. Showtime! (Elfman Geffen)
5. The Banana Boat Song (Belafonte Sony BMG)
6. End Credits (Elfman Geffen)

why don't they just issue the soundtrack with it.. than half of it.. just pathetic and pointless.
the cd soundtrack is only about 30 minutes long anyway... lol

Not worth the effort, time or money spent on it.. let alone buying it.

This is bollocks. Burton supposedly recorded a commentary for this years ago, but now all we get is this. At least the new The Nightmare Before Christmas DVD had a commentary and some featurettes. I'm not paying WB a cent for this lame excuse for a collector's edition.

I bought this the day it came out, only because FYE was selling it for $12 I mean that's a great deal for a brand new DVD.

Anyway I found this very weird apparently Entertainment Weekly liked the DVD enough to put it on the MUST LIST

I got my copy a couple of weeks ago. It came very early in the mail directly from WB. I picked up the Blu-Ray as an upgrade. The picture was definitely an upgrade. It is not demo material for Blu-Ray but still very good. I also thought the sound was excellent as well. As much as I would have liked to have seen extras beyond the cartoons, I am happy with the quality of the picture as an upgrade. Also, FYI, if you order from WB, and you purchase two movies, you can get 30% off which is great. Code is ANWBTS.

Does anyone here have any idea when the UK version of "Beetlejuice 20th Anniversary Edition" will be coming out on DVD? The fact that they have released a Blu- Ray version without a normal DVD version (and with so little extras) is a bit of a slap in the face.

Yeah me too. I at least had expected some interviews with, well, anyone who had something to do with the making of the movie. Perhaps Michael Keaton, or Tim. Or even the storywriters or the designers, whatever. They could've added the movie soundtrack on cd. Perhaps, some production photographs from during the filming. I hade expected a lot, but not...this.

A person might just as well buy the movie on dvd and the cartoon dvdbox seperately. At least that's worth the money.
