Marilyn Manson and other artists to cover Nightmare
The latest news about the upcoming rerelease of The Nightmare Before Christmas is that there will also be a new double CD soundtrack in stores. One disc will features Elfman's original music while the other will have covers of the songs by artists (and Nightmare fans) such as Marilyn Manson, Fiona Apple and Panic! at the Disco. This sounds like it could be either genius or completely awful. The CD will be released October 24 and you can read more about it here.

i think honestly think it will be great, and i dont think its all a matter of money. all of those artists are people that love tim burton's work, and especially love noghtmare before christmas. by being on the soundtrack they might like they're going 2 be aprt of it. id do it 2, and i think itll be great.

this sounds exciting, ihope they get rid of that corny ending on the nightmare cd (I didn't like that, sorry for those who did) and i wish they'd take out the naration on the main titles, i doubt they will, but it will be great to hear those other songs too :)
Reading this made me die a little inside. I am so disappointed. I mean ffs, they may be fans but this is horrible. It is a disgrace to the soundtrack and a terrible shame. This makes me so furious. I f*cking hate emo music. I don't understand how they can let this go ahead; the only reason I can find for this is purely commercial.

This isn't My Chemical Romance we're talking about here. Since when is Marilyn Manson and Fiona Apple emo music? While Manson isn't exactly my personal taste, they are both respectable artists and are definitely more fresh and original than the emo sludge released by many other bands like Good Charlotte and others. Panic! At the Disco are also a very fresh and original bunch of young musicians. And you forget that all of these people are die-hard fans of Tim and TNBC.
A disgrace to the soundtrack? I love TNBC and it's one of if noy my favourite Danny Elfman soundtrack, but this isn't exactly Beethoven we're talking about here. TNBC soundtrack has not (yet) reached a level at which you can say that any type of cover is desecrating its genius.
Does anyone on this planet know what emo is? it stands for emotional.. this whole "emo" label that gets placed on bands like Panic! and FOB is ridiculus.. Every artist sings about emotions so in that case the stones are emo, rihanna is emo, faith hill is emo .. get over it. It's the dumbbest thing i've ever heard of.

I'm surprised they didn't get Alice Cooper to do a song for the soundtrack. He's one of my favorite music performers and would be absolutely great in my opinion.

I'm excited, though im not a fan of Panic! at the Disco. It always seemed like Marilyn Manson should be part of something Tim burton directs. And this'll only skyrocket TNBC popularity even more I think.

I get what your saying. I hate the way Tim is getting labled as this emo steroyotpes. Most of the emo people at my school think Tim directed TNMBC, and they've never even heard of Ed Wood, or knew that he directed Pee-Wee. Don't get me wrong there not all bad. I have some friends that are emo and I usually have to tell them what he's really about. Where he comes from, where he started, etc. But I really hate that know ppl are starting to backlash emo ppl, Tim is getting backlashed. Whenever I tell ppl that he's my fav. director ppl look at me like Öh I don't like him, he's that werid emo guy," I'm like no he's not, he's his own person, besides have you seen all his films, Mars Attacks!, Big Fish, or even his short films?
As for the whole album thing Marilyn Manson and Fion Apple are ok in my book. I'm ok with Panic! at the disco, because they can at least change the music up a little, and make it there own. But i can't stand Fall Out Boy, there music sucks. Sorry if I offend anyone but that's just my opinon.

Every one is so upset because this is Tim Burton's orignal classic movie were talking about!And there not even sure if they are going to be doing this, it hasent even been said by Disney them selves. Marilyn Manson does a fucking awesome cover to This Is Halloween. Also, the rest of the songs, cept Dannys revised ones, suck so bad. Fiona is good, but meh, she could of done better. I love the origional soundtrack even more then the covers. But I do admit, Marilyn blew me away with this. I am not a big fan of him ither... Oh well.
