CatCF August 12 - 14 box office update

According to estimates from Box Office Mojo, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory earned another $7.2 million this weekend, boosting its total North American gross to a delicious $183 million. That already makes it Burton's second most successful film after Batman, and it's on track to break through the $200 million barrier before it leaves theaters. Worldwide, the movie has already earned over $250 million. Why should we care about the film's success? Well, the better Charlie does, the more freedom and power it gives Burton with his future projects. And that's good news for everyone.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory deserves every amount of the money. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it becomes Burton's most succesful film before it leaves the theaters. Great film. Good job.

From what I've seen on IGN and The Digital Bits, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" should be coming to DVD on 11/8.

I have seen this movie five times and am planning to go two more times this weekend. I don't know what the attraction is other than I've been DEPP-utized! He is amazing and funny and oddly SEXY (must be those violet contacts). I don't want to wait until Nov to get it on DVD! But I will be marking my calendar for it....any hope of a sequel maybe with a love interest for Willy?

Might be doing well in the theaters and loved by fellow Burton fans but hear in the uk the overall reaction from 'regular people' is crap, bad, and pointless,

But it was amusing seeing to ten year olds argue if Wonka was male or female. lol

lol! thats hillarious "he's a girl!"..."no, she's a boy!"....and sorry Lisa, but i dont think theres gonna be a sequel...when burton sees a copy of the great glass elevator [i love the line in it "its so hard to make a call to china....every time you wing you get the wong number!"] the first thought to pop up won't be LETS MAKE A SEQUEL! lol XD

It's me again. This is a absolutly stunning film and Burton really does need a round of appluse for pulling it off and addind a great piece of work to his resimay of films. But honestly, i don't know if there's going to be a sequel. I certanly hope so but the odds are slim. And what is all this talk in the U.K. about the film being "pointless"? They have no idea what their missing. Again, Great film. Good job.
